After having two children, I put on weight that just wouldn't shift. It wasn't the fact that I found it difficult to get rid of the extra kilos it was the change in body shape that really got me down. I attended the gym on a regular basis & couldn't understand why I wasn't achieving better results. I wanted to make a change in my life but I didn't know if I could. My initial thought was, " I have a family...could I commit to this major lifestyle change?" I contacted Anne and Bruce for advice and once I spoke to them....I was committed to make a change for the better!
One of the biggest changes that I had to to face was quite simply .....changing my habits and putting myself first! Busy family, running around between commitments and working part time, I would always pack a healthy snack bag for my partner or my children but I would neglect to think of myself. My normal routine used to be grabbing a handful of lollies, then waiting until I was absolutely starving at night (when it was my chance to think of myself!) then I would totally over eat! Anne suggested that I keep a journal of what I was eating and it wasn't until I saw it in black and white that I knew things had to change.
So I started putting myself first! This was the most difficult thing for me to do but I knew that if I didn't start to do something for myself, then my entire family would suffer in the long run. I was making time to exercise in the gym, but I know that the team at Serious Fitness inspired me to step it up a notch! I drew inspiration from the website and ate the delicious meals from the Menu Plan. The one thing that stuck in my head was..."keep meals simple...organisation is the key". So I did it! I got myself organised, kept my meals simple and now when I pack everyone else's healthy snacks and lunches, I pack one for myself!
Feeling good about myself has been one of the biggest things that I have gained from starting at Serious Fitness. I have renewed confidence in myself. I can wear so may more clothes that I wouldn't even think to put on before. Before starting at Serious Fitness, I would normally crash on the couch in the evening with a snack, I now have so much more energy to do things with and for my family.
Most importantly, I have learned that eating the right type of foods will help with the sugar cravings as well as my energy levels. I still eat lollies...only now I eat them as a treat and not a main meal!!
Now that the 12 weeks are complete, I feel like it's just the beginning of a healthier, happier lifestyle that I will maintain for the rest of my life!
