Matt Griffin - 10kgs in 7 weeks |
 |
After 5 years of Uni with countless beers and chicken Parmagianas, the student lifestyle had caught up to me well and truly. I had turned into a 'has been', who always referred to past feats of strength and fitness. Until the day I decided to actually live in the now and start looking after myself again. I joined Serious Fitness on the 13th of November 2008 with a tight deadline as I am off to Qld in early Feb. My first fitness test was a real wake up call. My love of good beer presented challenges as my beer club pack of premium and imported brews arrived every month. however, with the support of the team at Serious Fitness I was able to cut my beer intake by probably 70-90% and still enjoy the occasional ale. The eating plan was simple and easy to follow, no calorie counting..all the hard work had been taken out! The Moroccan Chicken is good!
I was nervous the day of my second test, but it turned out I smashed it! I lost 8.5 kg in under 6 weeks and went from 22.3 % body fat to 15.4 %, everyone had made comments about how I looked better, however I was still surprised by the numbers. I say I smashed it, however I would not have achieved such great results without Serious Fitness by my side. Bruce told me 'the first 21 days are make or break', he was right, for the first 2-3 weeks of training my body absolutely hated me. I would have to sleep diagonally in my bed to avoid moving my limbs, then I would get up hobble up to Serious Fitness, and Bruce would find new muscles I never thought I had. : )
Although I was sore, it was a good sore, a gee I have worked hard sore, or that's got to be good for me sore. After the initial pain your body gets used to it and you recover a lot quicker and with more sleep. Don't get me wrong, you don't just do the same exercise so your body can adjust, I still get surprised with new exercises after nearly 50 sessions. In January I started back on the 5th with Lesley doing 2 hr sessions 5 days a week, which was challenging but great fun.
In the last few weeks my girlfriend has noticed more changes, even from photos after I lost the 8.5 kg. I really can't speak more highly of Serious Fitness, I am not a has been any more, I go kayaking, swimming, running, riding, basically whatever I want to do and can do it for hours. I went for an hour long run down the beach the weekend just gone and did 10 lots of stair sprints up 30-40 stairs just for fun. I am happier, healthier, can think more clearly, and I am enjoying life a hell of a lot more. People always ask me, why do you have a personal trainer? Why spend all that money? Can't you just do it yourself? My answer to them is yes I could do it myself, however I probably would only run for 2 km instead of three, do 20 sit ups instead of 50, the results would come yes, however they won't come as fast and who is there to push you when your sore and tired, without a personal trainer the make or break 21 days for me would be more like 42 days or even 50 days. After just 7 weeks of training with Serious Fitness, I have lost a total of 10kgs and almost 7% body fat. Thanks Serious Fitness especially Bruce, Lesley and Brendan for training me.
