Muscles used: Latissimus Dorsi (back) Rear Deltoid (back of shoulder) Bicep (front of arm)
As many of us spend a lot of time in front of computers, this is a great exercise to improve your posture.
1. Sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you as shown. Make sure that your knees are slightly bent and your back is straight and abdominals tight. Loop an exercise/Thera band or Gymstick around your feet and grasp the opposite end of the band as shown.
2. As you exhale and using a controlled manner, pull the band to your mid-section. Keeping your elbows close to your body at all times and making sure that your squeeze your shoulder blades together at the very finish of the exercise. (This is the part that will really make a difference!) Inhale as you return to the starting position.
If you feel and sharp pain in your shoulders, elbows or back, discontinue this exercise and consult your health professional.
