Floor Wipers

Not only is 300 an awesome film, but also a great workout. The 300 workout was performed by those well-built actors to sculpt the body that they needed for the part.

One of the exercises out of this workout is called floor wipers. Unfortunately you won’t be cleaning the floor at the same time, sorry.

Start lying down on the floor with a stick in your hands. Extend your arms above your chest, this will give your arms, chest and shoulder a little bit of a workout by holding it up. You want to make it harder hold a heavier stick.

 

Lying flat and keeping legs straight lift the feet up so that they move towards the right side of the stick, or broom you are holding. The body will twist, but you must make sure the back stays down on the floor.

 

Lower the legs down towards the floor so your body is in a straight line, but don’t touch the floor. Lift the legs straight back up again towards the left side of the stick, or broom.

 

Make sure the whole time your arms stay straight and your abdominal muscles are working over time to help push your back into the floor.

 

If you suffer from a bad back or you feel your back is strained during this exercise then don’t worry you can still do it. Make any of the following alterations; bend your knees, or don’t lower your legs as low and make the movement only small.
