Our services include, one-on-one personal training, group personal training and group exercise classes including, Bootcamp, Powercise (like Zumba), Lean Ladies and Knockout - a mixed martial arts based program to get your heart pumping. Our focus is on creating great base fitness, getting results, improving your nutrition, all while having some serious fun!

HOT TOPIC: Don't be fooled by fad diets

Everywhere you turn you can’t avoid the new diet that will get you fantastic results in no time. The only dilemma we have is finding out which diets are fads and which ones are realistic.

 

The weight loss is a billion dollar industry and most companies are only there to make money. New diets come out every couple of months and it is always the new and better way to lose weight.

 

The majority of diets that are marketed, especially the ones done to excess are useless. They base their diets on nutritional facts but then put their own spin on it and make changes to make it more appealing to you and more money.

 

I was shocked when finding out the new fad diet that has been banned by the Food and Drug Administration. On the Tyra banks talk show she was discussing the ‘Tapeworm diet’. Involving you taking a pill, which has a tapeworm egg in it. As the tapeworm grows it eats majority of the food that you ingest. It secretes Protein into the intestinal tract making digestion of food less efficient. When it has served its purpose you have another pill to secrete the tapeworm.

 

This is a perfect example of how ridiculous fad diets are becoming now. If they are not promising you results in 48 hours, they are telling you that you can eat cookies all day, or why not just live on a drink and eat nothing. The problem is so many people out there fall for it and get more and more frustrated and hopeful when the next one comes out.

 

Weight loss is a long process. You only have to ask someone who lost a lot of weight and kept it off. It doesn’t happen over night by taking a couple of pills. For your diet to be efficient and your results to be permanent you need to change your lifestyle and nutritional habits for long term.

 

Your daily nutrition needs to have a healthy balance of pastas, breads, fruits, vegetables and red and white meat. These foods are natural and unprocessed, and preferably cooked from scratch by you. Sticking to a healthy diet like this will not only start making you look better, but you will also feel better and have more natural energy.

 

Here are a few facts about diets out there now, so that you don’t fall into any traps.

 

Shakes

We will provide you protein shakes at the gym, however ours are designed to have if there is no other option for a meal or after a hard weights session. The ones marketed to you for weight loss are designed to be digested regularly resulting in you having to like the taste to keep buying them. Therefore they have a higher sugar content than most others. You are running on energy created by this sugar and will more likely have more lows during the day than normal.

 

Cookie Diet

Like the shake diet this one has been designed for you to have instead of your regular meals. Again it has been made to be tasty meaning there is plenty of sugar and flavourings in them. The problem with high sugar in your diet is that your body will release more insulin resulting in you storing more fat from what ever you eat.

 

48hr Rapid Detox

If there were a pill out there that you take and in 48 hours the love handles or your thighs miraculously disappeared we would probably be out of a job. We not long ago did an article on fat burners and as you found out they don’t work for everyone especially people who want to lose a large amount of weight. Weight loss isn’t that fast, don’t be fooled.
